Gentle Beauty for Skin and Soul: Why We Choose Vegan Skincare
Share
As the fresh greenery grows more vibrant each day, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful season. In my previous post, I spoke about "Shojin," the spiritual root of veganism. Today, I want to share how we translate those vegan principles into the tangible form of skincare.
Why Choosing "Vegan" is an Act of Integrity for Your Skin
Have you ever considered what ingredients are actually in your daily skincare routine?
Commonly used moisturizing ingredients like collagen, squalane, keratin, and even honey are often derived from animals. The definition of vegan skincare is the complete exclusion of these animal-derived ingredients. Furthermore, it is not just about the ingredients themselves; it must also be "Cruelty-Free," meaning no animal testing is conducted at any stage of product development. This is more than just following a rule—it is a declaration of our commitment to respecting the dignity of all life.
Science Over Tradition: The Power of Purity
You might wonder, "Does the efficacy drop without animal-based ingredients?" From a scientific perspective, the answer is quite the opposite.
When extracting ingredients from animals, it is extremely difficult to completely remove impurities such as foreign proteins. For instance, "Hyaluronic Acid"—a well-known moisturizing agent—is often derived from animal sources. However, these can sometimes pose risks of unexpected irritation or allergic reactions, especially for those with sensitive skin.
This is why we focused on the potential of "Microbial Fermentation." By harnessing the power of microorganisms, we can stably produce plant-based hyaluronic acid instead of relying on animal sources. We believe that using high-purity ingredients with minimal allergy risk is the ultimate solution to achieving both "gentleness" and "high performance."

From Philosophy to Lifestyle
Veganism is not merely a set of "dietary rules" or "product standards." It is a lifestyle shaped by the accumulation of the choices we make every day—how we choose to live.
The food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the products we apply to our skin. Choosing not to build one’s beauty upon the sacrifice of another is not a restriction that binds you; it is a liberating harmony that aligns your life with your values.
From philosophy to lifestyle. And finally, to your own sense of well-being. We invite you to experience the essence of "gentleness" that Beauté de Pivoine has pursued.
We look forward to seeing you at the Vegan Gourmet Festival in Nagoya on May 10th. Let’s open the door to a "new kind of gentleness" together in the beautiful spring light.
