🌸 Event Report: 1st “My Choice Terakoya for Mums 🌸

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, we successfully held the very first “My Choice Terakoya for Mums”!

We welcomed 55 participants onsite and 35 online, filling the day with warm smiles, laughter, and connection.
To everyone who joined us—thank you so much for making this memorable day possible.

What is “Terakoya”?
In Japan’s Edo period, 寺子屋 (terakoya) were community learning spaces, small, supportive schools where children could learn freely and connect with others.

Inspired by that spirit, MyChoice Terakoya is a modern community for mothers and acts as a ‘third space’ where they can relax, learn something new, and rediscover themselves while raising their families. Each session features a different theme, helping mums find small yet meaningful moments of insight and comfort.

🍡 Theme of the Day: “Yakuzen × Dango Making”

For this first session, we invited Saki from Saimi Green Kitchen,(Saimi Green Kitchen) a certified Yakuzen (medicinal cuisine) chef, who taught us how to make healthy, easy-to-enjoy Yakuzen-style dango at home. Together, families learned about 薬膳料理 (yakuzen ryōri), a style of cooking rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that uses everyday ingredients to help maintain the body’s balance and well-being.
The sight of children kneading and shaping the dough brought a gentle, heartwarming atmosphere to the entire room.

Participants shared lovely feedback such as:

“I want to try making this at home!”
“My child had so much fun!”

It turned out to be a wonderful time for parents and children to share awareness and joy through food.

“My Choice Terakoya” aims to create a space where mums can comfortably join with their children—without worry or pressure.
Our theme is:

“You can live without knowing it,
but knowing it makes life a little easier, a little brighter.”

Through these sessions, we hope to deliver small yet meaningful discoveries—those “Good to Know” moments that bring a touch of comfort to everyday life.
